Peony flowers are very popular in the Chinese culture. For the nonyas, whose roots are from China, this flower features very prominently in all their designs. The lattice background is also a favorite of the Chinese. Marrying the two is my favourite feature of this pair of shoes.

Sandals weren't really popular in the late 19th century but absolutely de rigueur today. This pair of sandals is done in a typical pastel palette that is so popular with the nonyas. Colourful flowers on a background of cobalt blue.

My favorite pair of kasut manek. This shoe is a reproduction from a vintage pair. I love the little white flowers on a simple sky blue background. This shoe is in the typical style of the early 19th century, with low heels and covered front.
